Zatar Bagels
Zatar Bagels with Cream Cheese or Labneh
A Middle Eastern twist on the classic bagel with cream cheese, or for a more Levantine flavour opt for labneh. This recipe combines the rich, creamy texture of cream cheese/labneh and the herbaceous, tangy flavour of zatar for a delicious, easy-to-make treat.
Ingredients:
1 bagel of your choice of flavour, sliced in half
70g of cream cheese or labneh (use more or less depending on preference)
2 generous sprinkles of Baity Palestinian zatar
1 tablespoon olive oil (optional, for extra richness)
Instructions:
Toast the Bagels
Preheat your grill or heat a toaster.
Slice the bagels in half and toast them until golden and crispy.
2. Spread the Cream Cheese/Labneh
Once the bagels are toasted, spread a generous layer of cream cheese on each half while the bagels are still warm, allowing the cream cheese to soften and spread easily.
Sprinkle with Zatar
After spreading the cream cheese, sprinkle a generous pinch of zatar on top of each bagel half, depending on how much flavour you want.
Serve and Enjoy!
