Our Story
‘Baity’ [arabic for ‘my home’].
Baity was established in 2018 by Ali Yousef, a self-taught British-Palestinian chef with a passion for preserving and sharing the rich culinary heritage of his motherland, Palestine.
Inspired by the recipes passed down through generations in his family, Baity brings the authentic flavours of Palestine to life with a menu that blends traditional dishes with British-Palestinian hybrid creations. One such innovation is our Palestinian Sunday Roast, which combines the warmth of a classic British tradition with the irresistable spices and herbs of Palestine.
Our first restaurant, located in Didsbury, Manchester, quickly became a local favourite, earning widespread acclaim for its fresh, authentic take on Palestinian cuisine.
The restaurant’s success led to expansion into two food halls—Kargo Mkt in Salford Quays and Cambridge Street Collective in Sheffield—where we continue to share the flavours of Palestine with an ever-growing audience.
In 2021, we partnered with market leader Gousto to create a Palestinian-inspired recipe box, bringing the taste of Palestine to 12,000 British homes.
In 2024, we are taking our Baity-at-home concept further, having developed a range of pantry herbs and spices which will be stocked in a major UK supermarket. Diners can now preserve our culinary tradition in their own home!
At Baity, our mission is simple: to popularise and preserve Palestinian and Levantine culinary heritage while transforming it into a beloved staple for the everyday British foodie.
